A star studded OSU offense including Archie Griffin, Corny Greene, Pete Johnson, Lenny Willis, and Brian Baschnagel struggles against a mighty Michigan defense and goes down 7-14. Green puts together a masterful 80 yard drive to tie the score.
Then the other Griffin – talented Ray – who switched to defense for the good of the team intercepted Michigan’s Rick Leach and returned it to the Michigan 3. Big Pete Johnson powers it in for the go ahead score. The OSU defensive backfield was stacked with Craig Cassidy and Tim Fox. We needed the defense as Michigan held Archie to under 100 yards for the first time in 31 games!
