Jerry Lucas had more points and rebounds but Walton had two championships to Lucas’ one.  Of course Lucas’s OSU teams were runner-ups the next two years.  Lucas was the core of the finest OSU basketball team ever.  Walton was part of the larger John Wooden dynasty.  They both played well in the NBA which is not always possible for great college big men (Same Bowie, Greg Oden).
